🌱 A Mission Born from Family & Purpose

Gourmet Ganja didn’t begin as a business idea — it began as a mission rooted in family, healing, and hope.

Back in the 1990s, I became a passionate advocate for medical cannabis. I supported and helped pass Prop 215 in 1996, California’s first medical marijuana law, with the help of state senators. I always believed in it, especially when they took it from me and in court I won the right to get it back. In 2010-2012 when my father was battling cancer, I was coming up with the initial blueprint of Cosmo D's Outrageous Edibles, hoping to give him a better chance at survival.

I didn’t get that chance.

He passed away in my arms before my legal brand could fully take shape.

But his struggle and strength became the foundation of everything that followed.

🍫 The First Creations — Chocolate Bars & Survival

After losing my dad, life took me through my own storms.

I battled addiction, anxiety, and the crushing reality of withdrawal.

One of the only things that calmed my mind in early sobriety was a simple gummy.

That tiny moment of relief sparked something in me — the creator inside.

I’ve always loved building things.

So I created my first infused chocolate bar, just for myself at first.

Then it became a hit.

Then it became a brand.

And Cosmo D’s Outrageous Edibles was born.

🌶️ The Hot Sauce That Took Off by Accident

The hot sauce wasn’t supposed to be a product.

It was supposed to be a gift.

I made small jars of infused hot sauce, BBQ sauce, pesto, and mustard and brought them to budtenders as a thank-you for pushing my edibles in dispensaries. They loved it so much that the sauce took on a life of its own.

Demand exploded.

Dispensaries wanted it.

Customers kept asking for more.

But then the reality of the legal cannabis industry hit hard.

Corporate giants entered the market and crushed small brands who built the culture.

I fought, I hustled, I clawed my way into the legal space — but it wasn’t a fair fight.

At the same time, my home life collapsed.

My marriage fell apart.

My pill addiction spiraled.

Toxicity at home drained my soul and my strength.

Then — a phone call.

An investor wanted to support my hot sauce brand.

It gave me hope.

But they ended up investing less than a quarter of what they promised and offered almost no real help.

Still, I pushed forward.

I launched a brand-new website.

I produced 3,000 bottles of legal infused hot sauce.

I got into over 100 dispensaries.

Then everything crashed at once.

My marriage ended.

I lost my home.

I lost my cannabis kitchen when the owner sold it.

Without a kitchen, I lost my license.

I poured my own money in, trying to revive the brand…

And in the middle of that storm, I relapsed.

My addiction took over.

I crashed my truck.

I almost didn’t survive.

I came inches away from disappearing into a permanent dirt nap.

But I didn’t die.

I got sober.

And sobriety gave me something I hadn’t felt in years: clarity, purpose, and direction.

After a year clean, I realized how many people I could help:

• People with anxiety

• People with depression

• People living with cancer

• People battling insomnia

• Or people who just wanted to find joy again

So I rebuilt EVERYTHING.

I revived my legacy.

I took Cosmo D’s and transformed it into Gourmet Ganja — a smarter, stronger, legal brand with a new identity and a deeper purpose.

I launched a new website.

I found a new commercial kitchen.

I rebuilt my recipes from scratch.

I did it the right way.

And the crazy part?

Sales tripled from word of mouth alone.

No big investors.

No corporate backing.

Just passion, community, and products that people genuinely love.
